Effect glazes – this group of glazes is characterized by the non-uniform appearance of each individual glaze and thus also by its decorative vibrancy. Effects can include uneven surfaces, cloudiness, colorations, precipitates or crystallizations, luster, or metallic effects.

They arise from the reactivity of the different raw materials during firing and thus demonstrate the unique character of genuine ceramics. Additional effects can also be achieved by combining different glazes on top of each other.

The development of Welte glazes reflects increased environmental awareness and stricter legal requirements.

The majority of our glazes and colors are classified as "not requiring labeling," such as the Welte NATURA earthenware and stoneware glazes. They are all lead-free and do not require any labeling.
